From the organisers
Question: Which wheel(s) of the car is used to mesure distances (left/right, front/rear, 1/2/more wheels) ?
Reply: The meter used to measure the distance used “clicks” from the ABS system as a guide, which are then returned to the OBD connector.
Question: What accuracy was used in measuring roadbook distances ?
Reply: The roadbook was all measured to an accuracy of 1m.
Question: What is the accuracy displayed in the roadbook ?
Reply: Distances in the roadbook are shown to 10m with standard rounding (5 is rounded up and 4 down). As an example the number 1.378m would be rounded to 1.38 and 1.372 would be rounded to 1.37.
Question: Is there a measured distance we can set our trip meters ?
Reply: The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration maintains an official measured 2002m on a road running out from Reykjavik to Thingvellir. The organizer’s have marked, on the road to Krýsuvík, a distance of just over 5km in length measured to the meter by the vehicle used in measuring the roadbook.

Question: Is the timing system GPS based ?
Reply: Yes.
Question: How is timing at secret points done ?
Reply: The timing is done by geofencing. The system is provided by rogg.is
Question: How do I transport my competition car to / from Iceland
Reply: We have reached an agreement with the Icelandic shipping company Eimskip, to ship from any North Sea port on their route to Iceland and back again for around €2200. This is an all inclusive fee, excluding insurance. Shipper must show proof of maritime insurance or Eimskip will add a 0.5% charge based on worth of the vehicle plus shipping. Should the worth of a car plus shipping be €50000 the insurance cost for both journeys, would be an additional €500.
For the sake of clarity and transparency there are three other shipping companies that provide services to and from Iceland which might suit better:
- Samskip – connects Iceland to multiple ports in Europe and elsewhere.
- Smyril Line Cargo – Sails between Rotterdam (Holland) and Thorlakshofn (~45min from Reykjavik)
- Smyril Line – Sails between Hirtshals (Denmark) and Seyðisfjordur (~12-18hours from Reykjavik)
